Keeny was born August 16, 1831 in Ludloville, Tompkins Co., New York. April 9, 1851 she was married to David A. Jewell. In February 1856, they moved to Michigan, locating in township of Ionia. In 1871 they moved to this city, and have been residents here since. She has been in ill health for years, and on Oct. 5 last she was taken worse, and for two weeks her life hung in the balance. Since that time she has been a great sufferer. At one a.m. Sunday she went home to meet many dear ones gone before. The funeral was largely attended at the home, 342 Bliss St., Rev. W. K. Spencer, D.D. officiating, and his remarks to the bereaved husband, a friend of many years, as well as those to other friends, will be praised as long as they live. The bearers were nephews of the deceased: N. T. Jenks of Laport, Ind.; Prof. S. G. Jenks of Kalamazoo, Ray C. Jewell of Howell, and G. K. Allen of Grand Rapids, Mich. The flowers from I.O.O.F., W. R. C., Ladies of Presbyterian church, and twenty-one other friends, were handsome and highly appreciated. Another Publication: Mrs. Nancy Jewell, wife of the Rev. D. B. Jewell, who has been a long time a great sufferer, passed away at the home, 342 Bliss street, at one o’clock Sunday morning. Her age was 77, and she has been a long-time resident of Ionia, well known and beloved by many. Funeral service at the home, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by Rev. W. K. Spencer, D.D.
