Ionia Sentinel – 7 February 1967
Mrs. Esther R. Johns, 71, died Monday night at Ionia manor where she had 
resided several weeks.  She was born June 24, 1895 at Vickeryville and was 
graduated from Central Michigan normal college at Mt. Pleasant.  For years she 
taught school in Arizona before returning to Michigan to teach in Mendon and 
Ionia.

Since her marriage in 1924 to Dr. Joseph J. Johns she has resided at 315 
Lafayette Street.  He preceded her in death in 1947.  She was a member of 
First Methodist Church.  Surviving are a son, Raffee of Tretwood, Ohio; two 
grand children; and one brother, Oliver A. Braman of Palo.

The body will be at Stone-Kauffman funeral home until 1 pm Thursday.  Funeral 
services will be at Methodist church at 2 o’clock with Rev. Lester Bailey 
officiating.  Interment will be in Highland Park Cemetery.
