March 27, 2012 Raffee D. Johns, 81, loving son of Dr. Joseph and Esther (nee Braman) both deceased, dearly beloved husband of 55 years to Esther (nee Haack), loving father of Carolyn (Bill) McConnell, Barbara Anne, and Raffee D. II (JoAnn), and dearest grandfather of Andrew, Will, Amelia, Danny, Riley, Karli and Matthew. Mr. Johns was a 1947 graduate of Ionia High School and 1951 graduate of the University of Michigan where he was a drummer in the marching band. He was a lifelong Wolverine fan and former president of the Cleveland Chapter of the Alumni Association, and a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army 516 Signal Corps. He worked for General Motors Parade of Progress. Later he became involved with the restoration of Futurliner #10 which is on display at NATMUS in Auburn, Ind. He worked for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals for 35 years. He loved to drive and had been to all 50 states. He never passed up a roadside historical marker. He also traveled to all the Canadian provinces, the Panama Canal and many foreign countries. H spent his retirement summering at Morrison Lake. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Interment will be at Highland Park Cemetery, Ionia. Military Graveside honors will be provided by V.F.W. David Huhn Post. In lieu of flowers family suggest donations to Michael J.
