Johnson who died Monday, June 30, after a long illness at the home of his cousin, Mrs. George Fansett, of Grand Rapids, were held form the Palo Methodist church Thursday afternoon. The Rev. R. McConnell of Grand Rapids and the Rev. Homer, local pastor, officiated. Helen Bates and Bess Saxton of Fenwick furnished the music. Bearers were all distant relatives. Interment was in Palo cemetery. Attending the services from away were Mr. and Mrs. George Fancett, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Fancett., Mrs. Stewart Fancett, Mr. and Mrs. B. Fancett, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Elkins and Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Cole of Grand Rapids; and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Worden, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Worden, Mr. and Mrs. Howard McGowan, Mr. and Mrs. Harry McGowan, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Shaw of Fenwick. Johnson, son of the late Charles and Ella Johnson, spent his early life and school days in Palo and was employed for nearly 30 years by the North Western yeast company. In his travels for the company he visited nearly every state in the union. After leaving the yeast company, he worked in Grand Rapids until ill health forced him to quit work.
