The Belding News, Wednesday, October 6, 1915

The death of Louisa B. Johnson aged ninety years, occurred at the farm 
residence of her son, Duran C. Johnson, two miles east of this city, on 
Wednesday, September 29th, at nine o’clock p.m., with the cause of death due 
to old age.  Mrs. Johnson, had she lived, would have reached the ninetieth 
milestone on life’s journey on October 6th.

She was born in Vermont and when still a young girl moved with her parents to 
New York state, where she lived until the time of removing to Michigan about 
34 years ago.  during her residence in New York, and about 68 years ago she 
was married to Charles D. Johnson, and to this union five children were born, 
all of whom, except the remaining son, Duran C. Johnson, have together with 
the husband and father, preceded her to the other world.  She was the last one 
of a family of ten children to die.  Mrs. Johnson had been confined to her bed 
for the past nine weeks.

The funeral was held Saturday at one o’clock p.m., at the residence, Rev. 
Morris, of Orleans, officiating, and burial was made in the old Belding 
cemetery by the side of her late husband whose death occurred twenty-three 
years ago.  Mrs. Johnson had embraced the Methodist faith early in her life 
and had always lived the life of an ideal Christian.  She leaves to mourn 
their loss, besides her son, Duran, four grandchildren, Mrs. Dewitt Newkirk, 
Mrs. L. C. Rahn, Charles Quick and William Quick, all of Grand Rapids, also a 
host of other relatives and friends.
