Johnson, 91 years of age, of Lake Odessa, were held at the home Thursday afternoon, with Rev. C. N. Storms, of the First United Brethren church, officiating with burial in Lakeside. Mr. Johnson with his parents and his brother Frank, came to Michigan from New York when about 10 years of age. He married Ellen Shepard December 14, 1873, and they took up their residence on the farm where he died. Before his marriage Mr. Johnson helped his father clear the land now comprising the southern portion of Lake Odessa. He was always a great hiker, and in his younger days frequently walked to Middleville to visit friends, and until very recently had made regular trips afoot the three and one-half miles to Lake Odessa. He leaves, besides the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Guy Bever, and a grandson, Clyde Haskins. Those from away attending the funeral services were: Mrs. Minnie Bush and Mr. and Mrs. William Willsey, on Ligonier, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Von Furness, of Nashville; Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Franklin, of Remus; Mrs. Earl Houghton, of Blanchard; and Mrs. Elsie Eugerson, of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Shepherd, of Grand Rapids; and Mrs. Burton Ernsberger, of Flint; Mrs. William Lougley and Mrs. Russell Fort, of Lansing; Mrs. Elmer Ojala, and Cora Anway of Muskegon Heights.
