Marie Lou Johnson, 91, died Monday, June 20, 1994, at the Ionia manor.  She was
born March 1, 1903, in Pewamo, the daughter of Elmer D. and Lola M. (Sherman)
Bissell.  She was married to Fay Townsend on April 26, 1923.  He preceded her in
death on April 10, 1936.  She then married Charles F. Johnson on May 31, 1946. 
He preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1979.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty M. (Raymond) Dyer of Lyons; one son,
Alvin F. Townsend of Michigan; four step-daughters, Mary (Winn) Hackett of
Onsted, Mich., Joanne (Lester) Garland of Belding; Marjorie Stine of Dundee,
N.Y. and Catherine (Bruce) Higbee of Ionia; three step-sons, Leslie (Caroline)
Johnson of Greenville, Kenneth (Donna) Johnson of Orleans and Paul (Kathy)
Johnson of Ovid; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; six great great
grandchildren; 28 step-grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren.  She
was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Townsend in 1994; one
step-daughter, Barbara Griffiths in 1981; one grandson, in 1956 and two sisters,
Alma Townsend and Olive Hunter.  

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Cook Funeral Home.  The
Rev. Kenneth Harger will officiate.  Interment will be in Lyons Cemetery. 
Memorial contributions can be made to the Arthritis Foundation.  Envelopes are
available at Cook Funeral Home.
