He was born January 5, 1929, in Rogers City, the son of Robert and Nellie Marks. He was graduated from Ionia High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was an electrician at Fisher Boyd, Lansing, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Black and Tan Association and the Wolverine Coon Hunters Club. He was a past member of the Arabian Horse Association. He was a member and licensed lay leader of the First Baptist Church of Portland. He had performed many funerals and weddings in Ionia County. He married Mary Walker in 1952. She survives. He is also survived by one son, Glen of Rockford; two daughters, Sharon Frinche of Lyons and Diane Sterpzbach of Williston, Vt.; two brothers, Joseph of Reed City and Robert of Chase; two sisters, Fay Welborn of Traverse City and Nina Hansen of Reed City; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Portland, with the Rev. Donald Chapel officiating. Burial will be in North Plains Cemetery. The family will be at the Hull Memorial Chapel, Muir, Tuesday from 7 – 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. A memorial has been established for the First Baptist Church building fund, in care of the funeral home.
