Another Publication, date unknown The home of Byron Borden, in North Plains, had a narrow escape from destruction by fire on Tuesday night. After the undertakers had finished embalming the body of his sister, who passed away a few hours before, Mr. Borden went to an upper chamber to retire for the night. He had been up stairs only a few minutes when the cry “fire” was heard, and Mathew Bradley and others rushed up stairs and found that Mr. Borden, in lighting a match, had snapped the head off, which flew through space until it fell on a plush- covered couch, which ignited instantly into a blaze. The fire was quickly extinguished without other damage.
