Johnson, 96, Battle Creek, formerly of Lake Odessa, died Thursday afternoon at Community Hospital in Battle Creek, where she had been a patient for two weeks. Born July 22, 1878 in Lake Odessa, she was a daughter of George and Jenny Curtis Walter and a graduate of Lake Odessa high school and conservatory of music at Albion in 1903. She married Thomas Johnson June 1905. They were the first couple to be married in the Methodist church after it was built. She lived all her life in Lake Odessa until 1967 then moving to Battle Creek to live with a son, Walter. As a member of Central United Methodist church, she was lifetime member of WSCS, and church organist for many years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Lake Odessa and past member of Lansing, Detroit and Battle Creek Rose societies. Surviving beside son Walter, are four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Johnson preceded her in death November 4, 1969 as did two sons Dwight and Von. Services at the Pickens-Koops funeral home in Lake Odessa will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m., Reverend Hertel officiating. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
