Mr. Johnson was born May 22, 1886 in Ionia township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson. In 1896 he was married to Alberta Carter of Ionia. They lived on farms in Ionia county and in 1921 purchased a farm home on Bellamy Road in Easton township where they have lived since. Surviving Mr. Johnson, in addition to his widow, are a daughter, Mrs. Nelson Smith, of rural route Saranac; five sisters, Mrs. Lena Bull and Mrs. Clara Rose of Ionia, Mrs. Marie Nickelson of New York state, Mrs. Emily Carter of Muir and Mrs. Celia Seeman of Big Rapids; and six grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Ionia Church of Christ, a church deacon and a member of the Berean Brotherhood class. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from the family home in Easton township with the Rev. Paul Stewart officiating. The body will be at the Stone-Kauffman funeral home until Friday afternoon when it will be taken to the residence. Interment will be in Easton cemetery. Transcriber’s note: The obituary was typed exactly as printed in the newspaper. It is obvious there is an error in the marriage date as Mr. Johnson would only have been ten years old at the time. A check of the Ionia County marriage records indicates the marriage took place in 1916.
