By his side lay a 12 gauge shot gun, discharged, and in a pocket was a 12 gauge shell loaded with one ounce of number four shot. A similar shell had apparently been fired from the gun, which, according to the appearances, had been placed against the back of his head and discharged. Coroner Boynton, who was called said it was an unmistakable case of suicide. Johnson had gone from the house about 5 o'clock to do his chores. Two hours later, when he did not return, and a door of the outbuilding was found locked, suspicion was aroused, and Del Myers, a neighbor, who was summoned, cut the door down and found the body. No reason is known for Johnson's suicide. He owned a good farm, where he resided and cared for his mother, who is 88 years of age and an invalid. Surviving besides the mother are the following sisters and brothers Mrs. Lee Bull, Mrs. E. H. Carter, Mrs. John T. Anderson, Mrs. John Nicholson, Mrs. John Peterson, William and George Johnson. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at the Boyton chapel. Rev. M. S. Decker will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery.
