Johnson, 85, of Plant City, Fla., formerly of West High Street, Greenville, died Saturday, June 5, 2004 at Hawthorne Inn Assisted Living, Brandon, Fla. She was born March 19, 1919, the daughter of Charles H. and Florence M. Scripture Sheldon in Conde, S.D. Joy was a registered nurse for many years, practicing at United Memorial in Greenville and Belding Community Hospital. She was a member of the Michigan Nurses Association and American Operating Room Nurses Association. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a former member of the First Congregational Church of Greenville. She married Arthur Johnson on January 10, 1941, and he preceded her in death in 1985. She is survived by her son, William and Jill Johnson of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandsons, Scott and Rhonda Johnson of Jenison, Brad and Barbara Johnson of Indianapolis, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Allison, Josh, Katie and David William Johnson; brother, Donald Sheldon of Cadillac; sister-in-law, Donna and Richard Diehl of Belding; and nieces and nephews. Memorial services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Jerrold T. Jones officiating. Burial is in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to Life Path Hospice of Tampa, Fla., or the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
