Johnson, 86, Orleans, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. She was born June 12, 1911, in Orleans, to Frank and Grace Clawson Piper. She graduated from Ionia High School with the Class of 1929 and was valedictorian. She retired from McCory & McClellan 5 & 10 in Ionia after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Palo United Methodist Church and the WSCS of the church. She was married Feb. 14, 1935, in Ionia, to Donald Johnson, who preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by her children, James L. and Irene Johnson of Ionia, John A. and Catherine Johnson of Wilmington, Ind., and Jay Allen and Karen Johnson of Ionia; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Arthur in infancy, three sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Palo United Methodist Church with Pastors Pat Glass and Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment will be in Woodard Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Belding. Memorials may be made to Palo United Methodist Church.
