Johnson, 87, passed away Thursday at the Belding Christian Nursing Home where she had been a patient since September first. She was born June 7, 1890, in Ransom County N. Dakota, the daughter of Benjamin and Ida (Parmenter) Stevens and had spent her early life in the Vermontville area and attended the Vermontville Public schools. She married Royal C. (Sam) Johnson August 24, 1914 and had resided at Lake Odessa since her marriage. He passed away July 13, 1965. Mrs. Johnson attended the Central United Methodist Church, was a member of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, the United Methodist Women and the Lake Odessa Woman’s Club and served as president and also as a county officer. Surviving are a son, Robert S. of Belding; a daughter, Mrs. Chester (Betty) Anderson of Grand Haven; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Grace Hines of Lake Odessa and two brothers, William Stevens of Farmington and Bruce Stevens of Costa Mesa, Calif; nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Pickens - Koops Funeral Chapel at Lake Odessa. Rev. William Hertel officiated with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
