Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 21 Jun 1962

Mrs. Bessie M. Johnson, 92, daughter of an early pioneer family of Ionia, died
early Thursday morning at Ionia County Memorial hospital where she was a patient
several weeks.  She was born January 12, 1870, the daughter of Lucius and Delia
Mills, and spent her entire life in Ionia. 

Her father was a contractor and built several buildings in Ionia, including the
home where Mrs. Johnson resided at 306 Union street.  Mrs. Johnson was graduated
from Ionia high school and was a former member of the Garden club.

A daughter, Ruth, preceded her in death several years ago.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Stone-Kauffman funeral home with
the Rev. Harold A. Jayne, pastor of First Methodist church, officiating. 
Interment will be in the family lot at Oak Hill cemetery.
