Lowell Ledger -  Thursday 6 October 1878
Martha Baker was born in Townsend, Gore District, Canada West, Oct. 28, 1827.  
She came with her parents to Vergennes in 1843.  Feb. 11, 1845 she married 
Samuel C. Johnson.  For many years they lived in Keene.  About a year ago they 
moved to Lowell, where all of their seven children reside except one.  Mrs. 
Johnson has been in failing health for a year and on Sunday morning she died.  
Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church of which deceased was a member, 
on Tuesday, conducted by Rev. L. N. Pattison.

the kind friends and neighbors who assisted and sympathized with us in our 
late sad bereavement.  May you all find friends as true in your hours of
