She was born April 8, 1903, in Woodbury, the daughter of Abraham and Flora (Shade) Middaugh, and spent her early years in that area. She had been a resident of Grand Ledge about 50 years. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Grand Ledge, Rebekah Lodge, Past Noble Grand Club, American Legion unit of Cole-Briggs Post, Navy. Mother's Club of American and for many years was a representative of a cosmetic firm. Surviving are three sons, Chester McDowell of Las Vegas, Nev.; Harlan McDowell of Farminton and Forrest MacDowell of Chincoteague, Va; a stepson, Mervyn Johnson of Greenville; two brothers, Ezra Middaugh of Charlotte and Harlan Middaugh of Lake Odessa; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Peters-Murray Funeral Home at Grand Ledge, with burial in Lakeside Cemetery, Lake Odessa. Mrs. Johnson was a niece of Marion Shade of Lowell and Ruth Peterman, local.
