WARREN L. JOHNSON BRINGS SORROW TO MANY Died early Saturday Morning Of Best a Moment's Warning-Funeral Tuesday-Largely Attended. OBITUARY No death has occurred here in a long time that caused the shock to this village and community as did the death of Mrs. Warren L. Johnson early last Saturday morning. So usually well had her friends supposed her to be, she having been about her usually daily duties, down town and around the day before even, that they could scarcely believe the report of her death Saturday morning. She passed away about 3 o'clock in the morning and when Stephen Mallory's and Will Shumway's and other close friends of the family were telephoned for they thought sure some mistake had been made to the report and could not believe to the contrary until arriving at the home of the deceased and being brought face to face with the family. Mrs. Johnson retired the evening before in her usual fairly good health. Mr. Johnson was awakened shortly before three o'clock by her difficulty breathing and tried to awaken her but all to no avail and she passed suddenly away o'er any help could be given. Among those from away in attendance at the funeral were Mr and Mrs George Wigent of Potterville, Mr and Mrs Horatio Wigent and three daughter of Benton; Mr and Mrs Albert Hite of Spring Lake; Martin Wigent of Mullen Nebraska; Mr and Mrs B.F.Johnson from Potterville; Charles and Austin Johnson from near Grand Ledge; Mrs. Melvin Ross and daughter, also Mrs Thomas and Mrs Laubertson of Lansing; Mr and Mrs Myron Potter and Dr. Mighan and wife of Sunfield; Mrs Cora Needam f Charlotte; Mrs Tom Merrit of Eaton Rapids and Grove Malby of Grand Ledge. Lucy Wigent was born in Brading, Hillsdale county, August 5,1866; she moved when nine years of age with her father's family to Benton township, Eaton county; she was married to Warren L.Johnson of the same neighborhood, Oct. 16, 1888 where they lived on their farm until Oct.1898 when they moved to Potterville; here they resided until coming to Lake Odessa April 1899. She died of apoplexy February 28, 1908, age41 years, 6 months and 21 days. She leaves to mourn her sudden and untimely departure a husband, a father, George Wigent at Potterille, two brothers, Martin at the old home in Benton township the other at Mullen, Nebraska also a sister Mrs. Albert Hite at Spring Lake together with a host of friends. Mrs.Johnson was of that peculiar lovable disposition which endeared her to all who knew her. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the U.B.Church conducted by the pastor Rev. Bicknell and the splendid floral offerings and the large concourse of friends gathered were fitting testimonials of her appreciation. Interment was made in Lakeside cemetery. She is not dead, We have not lost her; She is only gone before Just to hold a welcome ready When we reach the other shore. CARD OF THANKS We desire to extend our sincere thanks to the many friends and neighbors who gave us such kind assistance during our recent bereavement in the loss of our loved one, also to those who brought flowers and to the choir and to all.
