The funeral will be held from the Baptist church in Sebewa on Sunday at ten o’clock and the remains laid to rest in the cemetery near by. Rev. A. L. Farrer, of Coats Grove, will preach the sermon. Mr. Johnson was born in Canada a little over 75 years ago. He lived there until a young man with a wife and family, when he moved to Michigan and settled on a farm in Fairplains township, Montcalm County. He lived there for a few years then took up a piece of land in Sebewa township, moving in through the forest, he began hewing out of the solid woods a home, and his long and successful life there best tells with what success he met. He leaves a widow and eight children, one daughter, Mrs. A. C. Ayres of Philadelphia, Pa., another daughter living at home; and sons, Will, Charles, John, Isaac and James, all living in Sebewa or near by, and Eugene who lives in Idaho. People of Sebewa speak of deceased as a man of exemplary character, and a good neighbor. His life has been successful, although he has suffered all the privations and hardships of the pioneer’s life. By his hard work he accumulated many of Sebewa’s best acres of farming land, most of which has already been divided among his children.
