May 21, 1936 LAKE ODESSA LOSES FAITHFUL CITIZEN Warren L. Johnson Passed Quietly Away Thursday. Had Been a Most Useful Citizen. Funeral at Home Sunday. After several years of poor health Warren Johnson passed away quietly Thursday afternoon. His wife who was talking with him barely noticed anything wrong util he was gone. Mr.Johnson was born in Eaton county November 29, 1860, where he spent his youth and where he married Lucy Wigent October 16, 1888. They came to lake Odessa in April 1899 and engaged in the meat market business locating in what is now the Belcher building. Here his wife died February 29, 1906. Mr. Johnson was interested in buying stock and eventually purchased a home on Tupper Lake street near the present stock yards. November 3,1909 he married Miss Amy Bushnell who survives him and who has given him close attention in his failing health of heart trouble. Mr. Johnson was a loyal member of the I.O.O.F. as long as health permitted. He was a splendid neighbor always read to help in time of need. He served several years as deputy sheriff and was also a township and village official He was 75 years of age. The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon. Rev. R.L. Boadway sang one song and gave the address. Four of his cousins were bearers. Burial was at Lakeside. Those from out of town to attend the funeral were Mrs.Charles Johnson and family, Mr and Mrs Austin Johnson, Mr and Mrs Eemory Johnson, and daughter of Grand Ledge, Mr and Mrs George Upright and Mrs Zetta Lambersort of Potterville, Mr and Mrs Thomas Merritt and son Morrie, Mr and Mrs Lon Needham, Mr and Mrs.Guy Hummell and Mrs. Goodenough of Charlotte, Mr and Mrs. Ransford Henderson, Mrs Perry Lamberson, Mr and Mrs L. Haige, Mrs. Jesse Wigent, Mr and Mrs Robert Kruger, Mr and Mrs Glenn Champlin of Lansing, Mr and Mrs. Clauncy Walters fo Williamston, Donald Morice of Shepard, besides friends and relatives from nearby villages. CARD OF THANKS I desire to express my deepest gratitude to my neighbors, friends and those groups, who in so many ways volunteered their help. For the many acts of kindness to Warren during his illness, the beautiful flowers and to Rev. R.L. Boadway for his words of comfort.
