The Carson City Gazette, Friday, March 11, 1898
Richardson Johnson died suddenly Sunday morning from heart trouble, resulting 
from rheumatism from which he had long been a sufferer. The funeral services 
took place Wednesday afternoon in M. E. Church, under auspices of O. H. Read, 
G.A.R. Post of which deceased was last year commander, Rev. N. M. Barnes 
officiating.  

R. N. Johnson was born in Ohio in 1845.  Enlisted at St. Johns, Mich., when 
only 18 years of age.  Discharged at close of war.  Has lived in Ionia county 
most of the time since 1866, and was married in 1872 to Harriett Schoonmaker.
