L. Johnson, son of Otis and Sarah Johnson, was born Nov. 15, 1842 in Oakland Co., Mich. He was one of a family of fourteen children, ten boys and four girls. He with the family, moved to Ionia Co in 1848 where he remained until 1857 when in company with his brother William he removed to the southern states remaining until 1862 when he returned to Ionia Co. where he was married to Mary Meade, Sept 5, 1870, and about two years later removed to their present home on Wolverton Plains. Four children were born of this union, three boys and one girl. A little more than three years ago death entered this home for the first time and took the eldest son, a young man of twenty-three years. Now again death has entered and taken the husband and father. He died Feb. 17th, after a very short illness of inflammation of the bowels. He leaves three brothers besides his wife and children to mourn his loss. May our heavenly father comfort their bereaved hearts. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon Feb. 20th, Rev. D.E. Hills of Greenville officiating.
