Accident on Farm of Jesse Meyers. Friday afternoon when little Howard Johnson was driving his father’s team, hitched to the drag, in the field, the drag upset and threw him beneath a cultipacker, crushing him to death. It is said the child had driven horses for a year. The funeral was held at the Mennonite church near Clarksville, Monday afternoon. The farm belongs to Jesse Meyers of Lake Odessa and is worked by Spennor Johnson. There remains a younger child, a son two years of age. The parents moved on the farm last March from the Logan district. Obituary Howard W. Johnson, eldest son of Spennor and Merty (Wheland) Johnson, was born Feb. 16, 1925, in Campbell township, Ionia county, Mich. Howard met with an accident that caused his sudden death July 15, 1932, in Woodland township, Barry county, Mich., aged seven years four months and 29 days. He leaves by his early departure his father and mother and one brother George, one grandmother Mrs. Hannah Johnson and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services took place at the old Mennonite church Monday at two o’clock. A large concourse of people were in attendance. Rev. C.L. Wilkins of Freeport had charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Riebel of the Evangelical church.
