James R. Johnson, 64, of 122 East Mary, Belding died Thursday at a Belding
nursing home.  He was the former owner of Johnson Shoe store in Belding and
belonged to the Belding lodge F&AM and Belding United Methodist church.

He leaves his wife, the former Juanita Wilkinson whom he married December 23,
1933, in Rockford.  Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Louise Sydow of
Hastings, two sons, James of DeWitt and Terrance of Grand Ledge, ten
grandchildren, four sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at United Methodist church of
Belding.  Rev. Eugene Lewis will officiate and the Belding lodge F&AM interment
will be at River Ridge cemetery at Belding.  Visitation at Huffman funeral home
of Belding will be Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.  The body will be at
the funeral home until 10 a.m. Saturday.
