She was 72. Pat was born on November 23, 1943 in Cincinnati, OH. She grew up in Kalamazoo, with her mother, Virginia Jarman, and older sister, Janet. She attended University High School. In 1968, she married the love of her life, W. Curtis Johnson. They moved to Lake Odessa in 1969, where they raised their four children and made many lifelong friends. She worked full-time in the wholesale industry after her youngest child started school while also managing her very busy family. Pat was a fiercely dedicated mother and grandmother, a true “momma bear.” Her children remember her as a strong woman and an affectionate, fun, loving mother, who always put others before herself. Pat was an open and generous woman, who welcomed friends and family into her life and home. She contributed to her community in many ways, caring for elderly neighbors, leading Cub Scouts, supporting the summer swim program, and driving many children to numerous sporting events. Pat loved music and dancing and had a beautiful singing voice. She was an avid reader, who loved a good mystery. In recent years, she delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play sports, traveling with Curt to visit dear friends in warmer climates, and relaxing with her sweet labrador, Wylie. Pat is survived by her husband, W. Curtis Johnson of Lake Odessa; her sister, Janet Smith; her son and daughter-in-law, James and Susan Johnson; her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Johnson and Kipling Grasse; her daughter and son-in-law, April and Ethan Cavanaugh; her son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Michelle Johnson; and four grandchildren, Liam Cavanaugh, Andie Cavanaugh, Harrison Grasse, and Piper Grasse. The memorial service took place on Dec. 30, 2015 at Koops Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Lakewood Athletic Association or to Lakewood Educational Foundation (Fine Arts).
