Jeanne Marie Johnson of Ionia, passed away in St. Augustine, Florida Friday, 
May 5, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeanne was surrounded by 
her loved ones in her final days as they said goodbye to a truly wonderful 
wife, mother, grandmother and friend. 

She was born on August 7, 1927 in Charlevoix, Belgium, the daughter of Leon 
and Celine DeLandas. 

Jeanne came to the United States in August 1948 and married her beloved 
husband, Oscar on January 20, 1951. Jeanne had a passion for cooking and 
taught French Cuisine cooking classes for several years through Mott Community 
College. She had a love for reading and was a volunteer Librarian at Schickler 
School in Lapeer. Jeanne always put everyone else's welfare above her own and 
was loved by all who knew her. 

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Jeanne was preceded in 
death by her parents. Surviving are her loving husband of 55 years, Oscar; 
daughter Claudia Johnson; sons Eric (Diane), Crist (Mindy), Leon and Karl. 
Jeanne loved spending time with her many grandchildren; Mary Jeanne, Joel, 
Stefan, Areta, Kathleen, Noah, Alec, Eric, Joshua, Danielle, Kasey and Abby; 
brothers Charles and Rene. 

A celebration memorial and reception is scheduled for Saturday, June 10, 2006 
at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Ionia, MI. In lieu of flowers, 
remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.
