Johnson, 79 and a half, passed away Saturday morning, April 15, 2006 in Grand Rapids. Marilyn was born on July 22, 1926 in Belding, the daughter of Wallace and Ida Nummer Updike. She graduated from Belding High School with the Class of 1944. Marilyn held a special spot in everyone's heart. If she met you once you were a friend from then on. She had a real zest for life and could always find humor in any situation. Marilyn looked for the good in everyone. She was devoted to her family and many friends. In earlier years she had worked at Belding Products, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Stanton was a past member and worthy matron of the Eastern Star of Belding, Doric Chapter 75. On Decemebr 18, 1948 in Belding she married Aaron B. Johnson and he preceded Marilyn on December 2, 1997. She was also preceded by her parents, sisters; Patricia Updike and Gretchen Finkbeiner, her brother Roger Updike and nephew Eric Finkbeiner. Marilyn is survived by her children and their spouses; Steve and Robin Johnson of Belding, Jason and Carrie Johnson of Lakeview, five grandchildren; Cassie, Caitlyn, Karmen and David, Travis and Rachael, Nicole and Don. Marilyn is also survived by seven great grand children, her brother and sister in law; William and Betty Jane Updike of Greenville and long time friends, Anne Ridgeway, Mary Hoskins, Rusty Kelly, Anne Porritt, Deb Slayton, Joanne Brechting and many other friends too numerous to mention. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with Eastern Star Services, conducted by Crescent Chapter 47 and Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Interment will follow in Otisco Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
