Dale was born on November 13, 1927 in Ionia, the son of Charles and Mamie Trovinger Johnson. In earlier years Dale had played two years of professional baseball Class D in Salisbury, North Carolina. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and playing cards. He loved his family and friends. Dale was a past member of the Ionia Elks Club, attended Shiloh Community Church and was a veteran of World War II. He had retired in 1990 from Northland Corp. after 38 years of service. He was married on August 19, 1950 in Ionia to Avis Bollinger and she survives along with their children; Robin C. Johnson of Ionia, Yvonne and Raymond Stewart of Greenville and Lori A. Johnson and Douglas E. Dolley of Ionia. Dale is also survived by his grandchildren; Rachel Stewart, Christopher Stewart, his great grandchild; Tyler Campbell and his sister and brothers and their spouses; Joyce and John Repik of Ionia, Max and Marie Johnson of Ionia and Frank and Louise Johnson of Orleans. He was preceded by his parents, sister Charlene and two brothers; Lyle and Clare. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Shiloh Community Church with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Inurnment will follow in Woodard Lake Cemetery. No visitation will take place. Memorial contributions may be given to Shiloh Church, Heartland Hospice or the Alzheimers Association of West Michigan. Care and service were entrusted to Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.
