Glenda was born on Aug. 4, 1919 in Edmore, Mich. the daughter of Ernest and Hazel Perry Johnson. She grew up in the Entrican and McBrides areas, graduating as salutatorian from McBrides High School with the Class of 1939. Following graduation she moved to Edmore to work as a telephone switchboard operator and told the story many times how she was working alone the morning of the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, when all the lights on the switchboard lit up at once and she didn't know which plug to pull first! Glenda moved to Ionia in the early 1940s to work at the AC Sparkplug factory during World War II, eventually meeting a young soldier from Lake Odessa. She married Lewis Capron on April 2, 1945 making their home in Ionia where they owned Modern Cleaners until his death in 1969. She had also worked at Meijer in Ionia as a cashier prior to her retirement. As her eyesight continued to worsen, she eventually moved to Belding in 1997, buying a home across the street from her daughter, where you could find her on most summer days sitting on the back porch enjoying the sounds of nature and admiring her tomato plants. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Ron Gunderson of Belding; her granddaughter Tracie Muns; her great-grandson Obec Sosa of Belding and her loyal and faithful grandpuppy, Tanner who will miss his nightly piece of cheese at Grandma's house. Glenda was preceded by her parents, an infant sister, her sister Eileen and her niece Judy Webb of Oklahoma. In keeping with her wishes no funeral service will take place. A time of remembrance will be Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Interment will be in the Spring at McBrides Cemetery in Day Township.
