He was married to Theresa Fern Van Duxer February 7, 1900 at New??, N. Y., and to this union one daughter was born, Violette Fern. His wife passed away December 30, 1913. He leaves to mourn his loss besides his daughter, an aged father, Willis Johnston; brother, Frank; a sister, Mrs. Emma Bowler, a half-brother, Norton Johnston, all of New York, and two grandchildren, Fern Louise and Charles Edward Burns; also his wife’s mother, Mrs. Kathryn Tillison, of Muir, and nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Mr. Johnston was a member of the Elks lodge at White Plains, N. Y., where he had made his home for the past two years. And was on his way to Alaska to attend to his ranch and mining interests when he was taken suddenly worse. Mr. Johnston had been in poor health for the past seven years with enlargement of the heart and during that time made several trips to Alaska. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Church of Christ at Muir, with Rev. George Johnston officiating. He was buried beside his wife in the Muir cemetery.
