Richard L. Johnston, 76, of Weidman, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at Ionia
County Hospital in Ionia.  He was born Nov. 27, 1923, in Michigan, to Raymond
and Beulah Johnston.  He later married Marian Ilene Colter.  She preceded him in
death on Oct. 15, 1985.  He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty
Dean and Letha Mooney; and his parents.  Richard was a self-employed mechanic
and enjoyed fishing and working on cars.

Survivors include three children, Richard Johnston of Sheridan, Rosemary Warren
of Kentucky, and Ronnie Johnston of Grand Rapids; three brothers, Walter of
Saranac, Lawrence of Ionia and William of Blanchard; and several grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.

A funeral services is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, March 12, at Helms Funeral
Home in Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Marvin Eldridge officiating.  Interment will
be in Union Cemetery in Winn.  Visitation will be Friday from noon until service
time.  Helms Funeral Home, 330 S. University Ave., Mt. Pleasant, is in charge of
arrangements.
