Ruth L. Johnston, 73, of Carson City, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the 
Carson City Hospital. 

Ruth was born Feb. 17, 1939 in Ionia to Lawrence and Lena (Forrest) Kirby. She 
married Dale Johnston on March 17, 1955 in Carson City. She enjoyed 
mushrooming, cooking, baking, a warm cup of coffee and Scrabble. She loved time 
spent with family and friends and made everyone feel welcome.

She is survived by  her children, Debra Nichols of Carson City, Richard (Irene) 
Johnston of Florida, Douglas Johnston of Greenville, Dennis (Nancy) Johnston of 
Hubbardston, Don Johnston (Jamie Brown) of Carson City, and Darryl Johnston 
(Vanita Almy) of Sheridan; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Also, 
brothers Robert Ritenburg and Thomas (Jewell) Ritenburg and many nieces and 
nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, daughter Diana 
Johnston and sister Lila Reed.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the 
Vickeryville United Methodist Church with Rev. William F. Dye officiating. 
Interment will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery, Vickeryville. Visitation will be 
held Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson 
City. Memorials may be made to the Johnston Family.
