Rites Today for Ruth G. Johnson
Mrs. Ruth G. Johnson, 83, of Route one, Woodland, passed away Monday night at Sunset
Acres where she had been a patient for 15 months. She was born in Barry County,
October 21, 1891, the daughter of  Rev. Levi and Eunice (Oversmith) Holmes. She was a
graduate of the Bear Lake High School and the Mt. Pleasant Normal School and taught school in
the Kalkaska and Manton areas.

She married Herbert Johnston , October 26, 1917 and moved back to the Woodland area
in 1937 where she had resided for the past 38 years. Mr. Johnson passed away May 20,
1967.

Mrs. Johnston was a member of the united Methodist Church at Woodland and the Circle
of the church.

Surviving are three sons, Everett and Ellis of Woodland and Harold of Lake Odessa;
16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Johnston reposed at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel at Lake Odessa until take
to the church at Woodland about noon Thursday (today) where services will be held at
one o'clock. Rev. Richard Erickson will officiate with burial in the Riverdside
Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
