Ionia Shopper's Guide-Saturday June 25, 2022

                                   JOHNSTON

Gordon William Johnston age 92, of Ionia passed away June 16, 2022. He was born 
April 10, 1930 in Ionia, the son of Gerald D.and Leona W.(Bennett) Johnston. 
Gordon married Coreen J.Cottrell June 18, 1955 at First Christian church in 
Ionia. He served in the Army during the Korean War and worked as a corrections 
Officer for the state of Michigan for 35 years. Gordon was a member of Shiloh 
Community church. He was devoted to his faith, family and country. He loved to 
bowl, fish ,and bow and gun hunt. Gordon, affectionately known as Papa to his 
grandkids, was an extraordinary storyteller.

Surviving Gordon are his loving wife of 67 years, Coreen Johnston of Ionia. 
Daughters; Lynne Rowland of Palmetto, Fl. and Pamela (James) Kulhanek of 
Avon,IN. Grandchildren; Jordan (Crystal) Kulhanek of Wolverine, MI, Alyssa 
(Brain) Prevost of Avon,IN. Parker( Kierstn) Kulhanek of Speedway,IN. Brianna 
Rowland of Burlington,Vt.and Blake Rowland of Ann Arbor, MI. great-grandchildren 
Gabriella Kulhnek, Brothers and sisters-in-law Gloria Spencer, Ivan (Judy) 
Cottrell and Marvel (Ronald) Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings and their spouses Gerald 
(Rita) Johnston, Natalie (Art) Witter, Ronald (Beverly) Johnston and brother-in-
law Elwood Spencer.

Cremation has taken place and Celebration of Life services will be held on 
Friday. July 8, 11:00 am. at Lake funeral Home in Ionia with Pastor Dale Olling 
officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 am. Luncheon will follow the service at 
Green Acres of Ionia.Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Those wishing 
may make memorial contributions to Parkinson's Foundation. Online condolences
