Harold was born in Mt.Pleasant, on November 27, 1921 to Herbert and Ruth (Holmes) Johnston. He was proud of his service in the US Army Air Corps from 1942-1946 during WWII. Following his discharge at the conclusion of the war, he spent over 40 years working for Smith Bros. Elevator in Lake Odessa. Harold was united in marriage to Frances Shade Runyan in 1952. Harold is survived by his son, Steve and Mary Runyan of Newago; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; special niece, Ruthann and Lee Stuart; and many other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded by his parents; wife, Frances; daughter, Priscilla Keeler; and brothers, Everett Johnston and Ellis Johnston. In keeping with Harold's wishes, cremation has taken place.A time of visitation with Harold's family will be held from 10:30-11:30 AM on Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa, with a short service of remembrance following at 11:30 AM with military honors provided by the Jackson-Mutschler VFW Post #4461 in Lake Odessa where Harold had been a life member. Final interment will take place in Lakeside Cemetery in lake Odessa. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon following the service at the Jackson-Mutschler VFW Post.
