Born Jan. 16, 1924, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of Glenn and Eva Johnston. He had lived in the Sheridan area since 1955 and had been employed at Federal Mogul Corp. A veteran of World War II, he was a life member of VFW Post 5065 in Sheridan and of the American Legion in Greenville. He was married to Celia McPhall May 8, 1948; She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Otis of Sheridan and Charley of Greenville; three daughters, Mrs.Tex (Jenny) Gladding of Stanton; Charlene Drake of Oregon, and Brenda Johnston of Greenville, six grandchildren, his parents, Mr and Mrs.Glenn Johnston of Fenwick; four brothers, Fred of Sidney, Bill of Fenwick and Bert and Ivan of Stanton; two sisters, Hazel Snear of Clare and Mrs.Ray (Ida) Herald of Stanton. He was preceded in death by a brother, Elias in 1967 and a granddaughter, Kery Wezensky in 1986. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Stebbins Funeral Home, Sheridan, with Rev. Kendall Downing officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 5065 of Sheridan. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
