Carl A. Jonas, 92, of Belding, passed away Thursday, July 17, 1998, at United
Memorial Hospital, Greenville.  He was born July 10, 1906, in Keene Township to
Charles A. and Elizabeth Krupp Jonas.  He owned and operated a John Deere and
Pontiac dealership in Belding from 1935 to 1975 upon his retirement.  He was an
avid hunter and fisherman.  

He was married in March of 1929 in St. Mary’s Church, Miriam, to Doris Jenson
and she survives with his children: Jean and Harold Scheid of Belding, Shirley
and Bill Johnson of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Bud and Lorene Jonas of Belding.  He
is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great
grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Esther Gasper.

Memorial services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in
Belding, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  Interment will be in Pinkney
Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Alvah N. Belding Library.
