Ionia Sentinel Standard, 14 Feb 1985

Mildred S. Jones, 59, of 823 East Washington Street, Ionia, died at her
residence Wednesday morning after a long illness.  She was born in Ionia
Township Jan. 16, 1926, the daughter of Robert and Margaret Otterbein Kemp.  She
lived in Ionia most of her life and graduated from Ionia High School with the
Class of 1944.

She attended Central Michigan University and taught in the Lyons-Muir Public
Schools and Ionia Public School, retiring in June 1974.  She was a member of the
National Education Association, Michigan Education Association and Ionia
Education Association, the American Association of Retired People and the Senior
Citizens of Ionia.  She attended Lowell Assembly of God.

She was married to Edwin Jones on June 20, 1947; he survives.  Also surviving
are two sons, Mitchel Jones of Pinconning and James of Ionia; four grandsons;
and her mother Margaret Kemp.

Memorial services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Lowell Assembly of God,
with the Rev. Melvin Goble officiating.  Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery.  The
family will be at Hull Memorial Chapel, Muir, Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9
p.m.  A memorial for the Ionia County Unit of the American Cancer Society has
been established, in care of the funeral home.
