Merton L. Jones, 75, of Belding, died Thursday, March 26, 1998 at his 
residence.  He was born August 15, 1922 in Belding to Orman L. and Mildred 
Hansen Jones.  He retired in 1984 as a tool and die maker after 15 years with 
Jordan Manufacturing and 15 years with Luvan Inc. as a supervisor.

He was a life member of the D.A.V. and the V.F.W. and a member of the American 
Legion, all of Belding.  He was married October 15, 1948 in Belding to 
Virginia Hansen and she preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 1986.  He is survived 
by one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and David C. Hansen, two great-
grandchildren, Ian and Elliott Hansen, and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents an done sister, Joyce Chickering.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Johns Funeral Home 
with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating.  Interment will be in Rest Haven 
Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 
p.m. to 9 p.m.  Memorials may be made to Helping Hands Hospice of the Alvah N. 
Belding Library.
