Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 17 Aug 1977

Ward Jones, 81, of 270 Railroad died Tuesday morning at Ionia county Memorial
hospital after a one-day illness.  He was born February 27, 1896 in Isabella
county, the son of Jefferson and Lucy Jones and attended rural schools.  Mr.
Jones served with the Army in World War I.

He married the former Adah StClair in Ionia in 1922 and farmed in North Plains
township until 1945, moving to Muir in 1946.  He was employed at Wohlert Corp in
Lansing, retiring in 1963.  He was a charter member of Golden Years senior
citizen’s club.

Survivors include his wife, one son, Eldon of Ionia; one daughter Mrs. Elaine
Horn of Pewamo; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services are Friday at 2 p.m. in Lyons Baptist church with Rev. Ralph Barton of
Temple Baptist church officiating.  Burial is in the Muir cemetery.  Until noon
Friday, Mr. Jones will be at the Hull Memorial chapel in Muir.
