Anderson Jordan died Sunday morning at her home at 221 North Jackson street. She was 83 years of age, having been born August 18, 1867, the daughter of Charles Anderson and the former Jennie Riker. Mrs. Jordan’s parents died when she was young, and she made her home with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Riker, in Orange township. She attended Riker school in Orange, and Belding high school She also attended a Grand Rapids high school. She taught school at Collins. She graduated from a nurses training school in Buffalo, N.Y., and became supervisor of the medical and surgical clinic and the general operating room. In 1906 she became superintendent of nurses at Pacific hospital in Los Angeles. She married George L. Jordan in Grand Rapids on March 23, 1907. They lived near Portland for two years, and then moved southeast of Ionia, where they lived for 37 years. Mrs. Jordan was a visiting nurse for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Ionia for four years. Mrs. Jordan organized the Social Hour club in 1915, and the membership will attend the services in a body. She was also an honorary member of the Women’s Literary club and was a past president and secretary-treasurer of the Ionia County Federation of Women’s clubs. Funeral services will be held from the Church of Christ Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Court O. Adams officiating. Dr. Paul L. Stewart will assist. Burial will be in the Portland cemetery.
