W. Alton, who had been called to attend her, Mrs. James Jordan with a sudden exclamation of pain, passed away instantly Thursday. She had been in poor health many years but of late had been feeling better and the doctor had been called to attend her for the grip. Funeral services were held at the house Sunday morning, Rev. E. B. Griffin, presiding elder of this district, for the U.B. church, officiating. Burial was in Portland. Mrs. Jordan had been a lifelong member of this denomination and despite her feeble health had been a great worker in the church. Her death was caused by heart disease. Lydia Price was born in Wayne county, O., March 28, 1845, and came to Orange township with her parents in 1860. In July, 1866, soon after his return from the war, she was married to James Jordan and the couple settled on the farm where she died. It was then in the midst of a densely wooded district and did not resemble the fine farm of today. The children are George L. Jordan, Mrs. Edgar Davenport, Ionia; Mrs. Leon Bromberg, Vermontville; Chauncey I. and Veda Jordan, living at home. The funeral services were largely attended, Sunday, sympathizing friends calling to pay their last respects to a true Christian character.
