He spent his entire life in the township of Otisco where in business and private life he was well known. In 1871 he was united in marriage to Adelaide Campbell, of Smyrna. To this union nine children were born, one dying in infancy. The others being Mrs. Lewis Seeley, Mrs. Frank R. Davis, George Joslin and Mrs. John Ashley, living in and near Smyrna; Frank Joslin and Mrs. Edward Tower, of Belding; Mrs. George Wiseman, of Battle Creek and James Joslin, of Grand Haven. Besides the widow and eight children he also leaves to mourn their loss 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and a host of friends. His funeral was held at his home in Smyrna, Sunday afternoon, February 14 at 2 o’clock, Rev. H.S. Ellis, of Belding, officiating. Burial in Smyrna cemetery. Those from a distance to attend were: Mr. and Mrs. George Wiseman and son, Donald, of Battle Creek; James Joslin, of Grand Haven; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Spencer and son, of Grand Rapids; Earl Davis, of Lansing; Ernest Davis, of Coral; Mrs. Samuel Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith, of Lakeview; Henry and Lawrence Gardner, of Ionia.
