(Silver) Joslin, 78, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 6 at Veteran’s Facility hospital in Grand Rapids. He had been ill for about a year. Mr. Joslin was born February 4, 1876 at Smyrna, the son of Charles and Adelaide Joslin and spent most of his life there. He lived in this city for a short time before going to the Facility to live. He was a Spanish War veteran and saw active duty in Cuba with Company I, 34th regiment. This term of service impaired his health throughout his life. He is survived by one son, Charles of Dallas, Texas and one grandchild, five sisters, Mrs. Blanche Seeley and Mrs. Marian Wiseman of this city, Mrs. Cora Davis and Mrs. Joy Ashley of Smyrna and Mrs. Elva Tower of Grand Rapids; and two brothers, James of Gowen and Frank of Smyrna. In a family of 8 brothers and sisters, his is the first death. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 o’clock at Fitzjohn Funeral Home with Rev. H. S. Ellis officiating and the burial was in Smyrna cemetery. The VFW conducted military rites at the graveside service. Bearers were VFW Dads Lauren Brady, Leo Bannister, Nicholas Geisen, Leo Shindorf, Loren Belding and Aubrey Stewart.
