He had been ill of grip, and this, with the complications caused by his recent accident, the fracture of one hip, caused his death. He was born in New York state, Sept. 20, 1816, and had been a resident of Allegan thirty years or more. He was an engineer in his younger days, but his work for many years had been the-training and driving of horses. He was probably more widely known than any other horseman in this part of the state. He was married when about forty years old, but his wife died two years later. There brothers, one in Essexville, one near Ionia, and one id Lapeer survive. The funeral was held from Mrs. Parsons' home on Thursday, Rev. Wm. Lucas officiating.
