Sept. 22, 2009 Brenda L. (Hansen) Kahl, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and g reat- grandmother, was born Oct. 17, 1940 in Edmore, the daughter of Levi and Beulah (Petersen) Hansen and passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 under the loving care of St. Mary’s Hospital Hospice. Brenda had a firm, steadfast and unwavering faith. She graduated from Lakeview high School with the class of 1960. For a short time she was a nurse’s aide at Kelsey Memorial Hospital in Lakeview. Sept. 8, 1961 she was untied in marriage by Rev. Harold Jayne to Philip Kahl of Ionia in the Chapel of First United Methodist Church where she was still a member. Brenda was a former member of Queen Esther Chapter #37, Order of Eastern Star in Ionia. Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Phil; three daughters, Kendra (Andy) Badder of Ionia, Korene Kahl of Grand Rapids and Krista (Josh) Hans of Ionia; four grandchildren, Jessica Anne, heather Marie, Sndrew Louis and Zachary kendall Badder, all from Ionia; a very special great-granddaugter, Isabella Rose Teunissen also from Ionia; sister Jane (Dean) Gage and brother John (Marybeth) Hansen both of Stanton; several cousins, several nieces and a nephew. Numeous children she cared for during her life as a private daycare provider also survive Brenda as does a beloved Lynx Siamese, Cappuccino. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Beulah, and her husband’s parents, Louis and Jennie Kahl aand a very special aunt by marriage, Selma Elliot. Visitation with the family will be at Lake Funeral Home, 3521 S. State Road, Ionia, Wednesday, Sept 23 from 6-9 p.m. and at First United Methodist Church, 105 E. Main Street, Ionia, one hour prior to the service of the celebration of her life. The celebration of her life will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept 24, 2009 with Pastors Larry Brown and Nancy Patera and Carl Hausserman officiating. Interment will be in the Balcom Cemetery at a later date. A luncheon will be served in Fellowship Hall immediately following the services.
