Funeral services will be held from the home Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Gerald Jacobs, pastor of the Lyons Methodist church, officiating. Masonic services will be conducted by Lyons Masons and the Ionia Knights Templars will provide the escort. Mr. Kalb returned about ten days ago from Endicott, N.Y., where he went for advice from his son, Dr. John Kalb, an Endicott physician. An examination revealed his condition critical. He returned home by plane, spending one night at Akron, Ohio, where the plane was grounded by bad weather. Mr. Kalb had been for 36 years an employee of the Ypsilanti Furniture company, having been superintendent of the Lyons plant until that was closed. He came to the Reed from Batesville, Ind. Born in Germany May 26, 1880, he had been in the United States 39 years. He was a member of the Lyons Methodist church, of the Lyons lodge No. 37 F&AM and Lyons chapter, No. 60, RAM, and the Ionia Commandery No. 11, Knights Templars. He was also superintendent of the Lyons Methodist Sunday school. Surviving his are his wife, one son, Dr. John Kalb, of Endicott, N.Y.; two daughters, Mrs. Russell Miller of Lyons and Mrs. Phillipine Seichart of Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren; four brothers, Earnest of Chicago, Eugene of Cincinnati, Ohio, Gustav of Batesville, Ind., and the fourth in Germany and one sister in Germany. The body will be taken to the home from the Shaw-Rivett funeral home in Muir probably Wednesday.
