Henry Kaley of Danby Passed Away Last Thursday. Henry Kaley died at his home in Danby last Thursday afternoon, aged nearly 77 years. Death was caused by dropsy and other complications. Mr. Kaley was a native of Freedom, Pa., where he resided until coming to Danby in 1860. He first resided on the farm owned by Wm. T. Smith, on the school section, afterward moving to the farm where he continued to reside until he died, except a short residence in Portland. During the War of the Rebellion, Mr. Kaley was a member of the company of sharpshooters attached to the 27th Michigan infantry, enlisting from Portland in 1864 and serving through the war, and was a pensioner. Beside the aged widow, he is survived by three children, Olin, who resides on the old homestead; Lucy Rowley of East Jordan, Mich.; Frank of Danby. Mr. Kaley had always been a hard-working, honorable man and highly respected by his neighbors, comrades and friends. Funeral services over his remains were conducted from the house Saturday forenoon by Rev. Millard and burial made in Portland cemetery, a detail from John Megarah post, of which he was a member, meeting the remains on the way to Portland and acting as escort to the cemetery.
