Lawrence was a lifelong resident of Ionia. He was a dairy farmer for over 50 years and continued to stay active doing all farm activities. He loved the land and animals. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to all. Lawrence was the son of Joseph and Mary (Laux) Kammers. He was born at home in Ionia on May 13, 1920. He attended SS. Peter & Paul Academy and was a lifetime parishioner. He served in the Army in WWII and worked on airplane maintenance. Lawrence is survived by his son, Joe (Jan) Kammers and two daughters, Rosemary Reams and Laura (Bob) Miller, all of Ionia; one brother, Philip (Kristy) Kammers of Ionia; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline of 66 years; brothers, John, Paul and Peter Kammers; one son-in-law and one granddaughter. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, 1 p.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Father Charlie Hall celebrant. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
